SAVE ON CRESTOR

by Administrator on May 1, 2009

One hundred twenty five dollars, please.

Imagine hearing that when you’re picking up your prescription. This is exactly what happened to one of my customers when he came in for his Crestor, a medication used for lowering cholesterol.  He had reached his limit on his Medicare drug insurance plan.

Splitting tablets can save you money on prescription drugs.

I thought about how I might be able to help him. Here’s what happened:

Sometimes, different strengths of a particular medication cost the same. In this particular instance, a 10mg tablet of Crestor cost the same as a 20 mg tablet. After consulting with his doctor, my customer decided to get the 20mg tablets and split them in half.  One tablet was now going to last him two days instead of one.

What’s the lesson here?

Splitting tablets in half is a very effective way to save money on your medications.  Make sure you check with your doctor or pharmacist if this is appropriate for you.
